Your responsibilities

• Independent research in multimedia systems technologies
• Independent delivery of courses in English and German using established and innovative teaching methods

Your profile

• Doctoral degree in computer science, information and communications engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields
• Experience in acquiring and managing highly competitive third-party funded projects of significant volume
• Scientific record in multimedia systems, including publications, awards, and invited presentations
• Strong background at habilitation level in one or both fields:
  • (Distributed) multimedia systems, preferably covering video coding, communication, streaming, and quality of experience (QoE)
  • Machine learning, preferably in the context of (distributed) multimedia systems and/or computer vision
• Excellent programming skills in multimedia systems and/or machine learning
• Very good scientific communication skills (writing and oral presentations)
• Excellent spoken and written English

Employment details

• Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)
• Minimum salary: € 70,200.20 per annum (gross)
• Classification: B1 lit. b (collective agreement for university staff)
• Duration: Limited to 6 years (with option for permanent contract via qualification agreement)
• Tenure track option: Negotiation of a qualification agreement (QA) according to §27 of the collective agreement
  • Starting salary (without QA): € 5,014.30 gross/month (14x/year)
  • With QA: Minimum € 5,904 gross/month
  • After fulfilling QA: Promotion to tenured Associate Professor (minimum € 6,389.50 gross/month)
