Job description: We are currently looking for a motivated computational analyst to join our interdisciplinary project studying the function of RNA modifications in cancer development, metastasis and therapy resistance. You will be part of an exciting and stimulating research environment, working closely with a team of researchers, clinicians and computational analysts. Our project addresses the question how RNA modifications dynamically control transcription and mRNA translation when cancer cells are exposed to a new environment during metastasis or cancer treatment regimens for example. We utilize a wide array of biochemical, cellular, computational and in vivo approaches to identify novel epitranscriptomic key players but a major part will be the integration of nanopore sequencing approaches for full-length transcript analyses and base modification detection. You will be responsible for leading and performing analysis as well as building computational models at the intersection of fast-evolving areas of RNA biology and translational research. Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will formulate and pursue translational science questions based on large data sets. You will curate, manage and perform high quality data analysis and provide feedback to other computational and wet lab scientists. Requirements: Candidates must have a master's degree and PhD degree in a relevant quantitative discipline (e.g. computational biology, genetics, bioinformatics, physics, engineering or applied statistics / mathematics) as well as a proven understanding and experience in the fields of genomics, data processing and high-throughput data analysis Experience with programming in high level scripting languages (R and/or Python) Demonstrated expertise in the management and analysis of very large data sets Experience in writing manuscripts for publication Strong communication skills, high level of organizational skills, and a logical and diligent approach to gathering information We offer: Interesting, versatile workplace International, attractive working environment Campus with modern state-of-the-art infrastructure Salary according to TV-L including social benefits Possibility to work part-time Flexible working hours Comprehensive further training program The position is initially limited to 1 year.
