Looking for new opportunities? The Research Training Group RTG-PRO is now recruiting! The University Medicine Greifswald fulfills the tasks of the medical faculty in research and teaching as part of the University Greifswald and in cooperation with the other faculties. With 21 clinics/polyclinics, 19 institutes and further central facilities the University Medicine Greifswald performs its duties as maximum care hospital. The University Medicine Greifswald -public corporation - offers the following positions starting in the time window between October 1st, 2024 and January 1st, 2025: PhD candidates (m/f/d) Part-time/65% limited for up to 3 years The limitation of the contract is based on the Science Contract Act («Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz»). The Research training group RTG-PRO is now recruiting! The research consortium focuses on the role of proteases in infection and inflammation. By providing a structured training program coupled with an ambitious, cutting-edge scientific research project we hope to attract young scientists towards this emerging field of science. We offer 15 doctoral positions (PhD) in the doctoral program RTG 2719 »Proteases in pathogen and host: importance in inflammation and infection«. Our PhD training program integrates internationally recognized research groups in a unique collaborative framework to study the role of proteases in infection and inflammation. It provides an excellent platform for research and training, using state-of-the-art technologies in biochemistry, bioinformatics, functional genomics (multi-omics), immunology, microbiology as well as molecular cardiology and gastroenterology with enormous potential for translational research. The program is backed up by an individual supervision and coaching program as well as topic-related seminars, practical courses, and transferable skills workshops. The positions are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG GRK 2719/1). Your tasks: Research in the doctoral program RTG-PRO (2719): 15 PhD projects explore the molecular mechanisms of protease activity and its relevance for protein quality control and cell homeostasis, for bacterial colonization and infection, for the polarization of the immune response and for the outcome of infection and inflammation. In your application, please indicate your preference for three projects you would like to work on. Depending on the selected project, the place of employment will be the University of Greifswald, the University Medicine Greifswald, or the FLI Federal Research Institute for Animal Health.
