PNB - Logo Call for Applications: PNB Research Group for Postdoctoral Researchers Location: Brandenburg Universities | Closing Date: 1st October, 2024 (23.59h CEST) PNB Research Group The Postdoc Network Brandenburg (PNB) invites experienced national and international postdoctoral researchers - without a completed habilitation - this year exclusively from the Life Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering Sciences as defined by the DFG (German Research Foundation)1 to apply for a PNB Research Group starting in the course of 2025. Proposals with an interdisciplinary character are explicitly welcomed. Funding of up to EUR250.000 per year for a duration of four years is provided for one postdoctoral scientist to further her/his career by qualifying as a group leader (PI) of an independent research group at one of the universities in Brandenburg. This funding includes: the group leader position (TV-L E14) for four years, scientific staff, maximum three positions (TV-L E13), expenses for materials, travel, and investments. Applicants have to clearly indicate which of the four universities they are applying for. They have to explicitly outline how to interface with existing research and teaching activities at the selected host university. The proposed scientific project and its feasibility must be outlined in a detailed research plan. Requirements Applicants must demonstrate the following qualifications: a Ph.D. degree and at least 2 years of experience in postdoctoral research, an excellent academic record with highly ranked peer-reviewed publications, experience in acquiring research funds. We are looking for highly motivated researchers with an excellent publication record, scientific mobility, and a competitive and innovative research proposal compatible with the research profile of the host university. Brandenburg universities strive to maintain gender balance among their staff and to foster career opportunities for women. The most important selection criterion is the outstanding quality of the planned research project and the academic excellence of the applicant. Organizational support regarding visa, insurance, housing, etc. can be provided by the host university. Institutional Framework The PNB was founded in 2018 by the four Brandenburg universities - University of Potsdam, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), and Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF - with the aim of developing the potential of postdoctoral researchers working at the state's scientific institutions as best as possible. With one of the highest concentration of universities and research institutions in Germany offering a broad variety of research topics, the metropolitan region of Berlin-Brandenburg provides an innovative environment for creating and conducting research collaborations as well as networking opportunities. The funding line PNB Research Group enables national and international scientists to concentrate for four years entirely on their proposed research projects. In addition, this grant offers the financial framework necessary for hiring the scientific staff required for the proposed project to be successful. Furthermore, fellows have access to professional training and coaching for developing individual and professional competencies.
