PhD - Agentic AI for ASIC Development Acceleration
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual (f/m/div) interested in a PhD position in the field of design, verification and test of ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) for application in complex sensor systems. In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop agentic AI software solutions to significantly accelerate the development cycles of various design domains (digital design and verification, mixed-signal verification and testing)
Your responsibilities and duties will include, among others:
- Research study on state-of-the-art AI platforms and tools based on available commercial, open-source, in-house and academic field solutions
- Deep dive into our ASIC development process
- Analysis and integration of multi-modal source solutions coping with XML register maps, VHDL code files and Python based test descriptions and others converting into machine readable formats (e.g. Markdown)
- Process high-impact use cases throughout the entire ASIC development lifecycle across various development domains, including digital design & verification, ASIC testing, and analog/mixed-signal verification. Examples include automated VHDL code generation, automated test item generation for wafer testing, coverage-driven regression testing and optimization, AMS testbench generation, as well as closed-loop evaluation and optimization of test cases
- Architectural choice, implementation and critical assessment of scalable and portable AI concepts (e.g. human in the loop vs. fully automated AI agents) best suited for the explored use cases
- Holistic integration of the developed solutions into our ASIC development flow and respective data management via state-of-the-art versioning tools (e.g. GIT)
- Collaborating and actively exchanging ideas with ASIC development experts as well as internal and external research partners and expert networks
- Contributing to innovative projects within international and interdisciplinary teams for the global market leader in sensing solutions
- Writing scientific publications, publishing and presenting the research results at international conferences and in journal papers
Qualifications
- Personality: You possess a high level of enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine willingness to collaborate within international and interdisciplinary teams
- Working Practice: You are an effective team player with a focused, methodical, and highly independent working style
- Experience & Expertise:
- Fundamental experience in the use of AI tools, agent development and prompting is mandatory
- Strong expertise in Python scripting, general understanding in VHDL, Verilog and coding as well as efficient handling of various data formats is a must
- Basic understanding of ASIC design methodologies in digital design, analog/mixed signal simulation and wafer testing
- Familiarity with AI platform specific pros and cons to deploy them for the identified use-cases
- Experience in software development is a plus
- Languages: Proficient English is a must; advanced German language skills are beneficial
- Education: A degree (Diploma / M.Sc.) in electrical engineering, computer science or an equivalent field with outstanding academic results is required
We offer you an inspiring and challenging environment in which to successfully complete your PhD within a 3-year program. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team and have access to state-of-the-art technologies and resources. In addition, we offer you the opportunity to participate in national and international conferences to present your research results, while gaining access to the global Bosch PhD network, academic field and other events.
