Master Thesis Enhanced MIMO Waveguide Antenna Arrays for Automotive Radar
Job Description
MIMO antenna arrays in waveguide antenna technology are widely used in Radar sensors for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in the automotive domain. One Radar sensor must cover several functions with different requirements for the antenna system. Your work comprises the design of a new MIMO antenna system enabling an enhanced range of functionality for these Radar sensors.
- In your master thesis you will evaluate new MIMO antenna concepts based on waveguide antenna technology.
- You will design a new antenna system and assess the design for the waveguide technology.
- Furthermore, you will be responsible for the simulation of the design and the evaluation for different automotive functions (Long Range, Mid-Range, Short Range Radar).
- Finally, you will be working in a mixed team of RF and Signal processing experts. You will frequently exchange your results and discuss them within the team.
Qualifications
- Education: Master studies in the field of Electrical Engineering or comparable (with a focus on high frequency technology) with very good grades
- Experience and Knowledge: strong background on antenna array engineering and MIMO theory; experience in antenna system and component design; proficient in antenna theory (e.g. electromagnetic fields); good knowledge in electromagnetic software tools (e.g. CST/HFSS) and in Python
- Personality and Working Practice: you excel at leveraging your strong analytical skills to drive topics independently and proactively, while also integrating seamlessly as a supportive team player to achieve accurate results in a structured and systematic way
- Work Routine: your on-site presence is required
- Enthusiasm: for new technologies and commitment to learn new skills
