Aufgaben:
as a fixed-term contract limited to 18 months. Working hours per week will be 19,75 hours (50 %). Employment conditions are regulated by the German TV-L regulations (max. E11 TV-L), depending on responsibilities and qualifications of the individual candidate. The position is located at our Villingen-Schwenningen campus. We do expect you to be prepared to undertake tasks at the other campuses, too, however. Your tasks will include: The position is part of a DFG-funded project that focuses on the identification of metabolic signalling molecules released by dying cells. The project builds on recent findings that apoptotic cells secrete antiinflammatory metabolites that promote wound healing (see e. g. here DOI: 10.1038/s41586-020-2121-3). The new project focuses on the question of which biologically active metabolites are secreted during different forms of cell death (e. g. apoptosis or necroptosis) and what effects these have on other cells. An activity-based approach will be employed to identify secretomes that induce an equal or opposite effect in the target cells and subsequently identify the responsible metabolites using high-resolution ion mobility coupled mass spectrometry. For this purpose, state-of-the-art methods such as cell cultivation and cell-cell signalling in microfluidic systems, multiparameter flow cytometry and ion mobility coupled mass spectrometry are used. The tasks of the vacant position include the cultivation of (primary) cell models, as well as the execution of experiments under standard culture conditions or microfluidic setups, and the application of multiparametric flow cytometric methods and molecular biological assays. Collaboration in project management (e. g. reporting, presentation of project results) as well as participation in the daily laboratory organization are also expected. We are looking for: A scientific university degree (Bachelor or Master) or technical training with a focus on cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioanalytics, biotechnology, pharmacy, molecular medicine or related subjects. Candidates in the final phase of their Bachelor's degree (i. e. Bachelor's thesis) will also be considered, depending on suitability. Experience in the fields of human cell cultivation, classical molecular biology methods (e. g. MTT assay, caspase activity assay), flow cytometry, microfluidics, liquid chromatography (e. g. HPLC, UHPLC), extraction methods for metabolites from biological samples, bioinformatics tools such as R or Phyton, mass spectrometry or statistical analysis of metabolomics datasets is an advantage. Good written and spoken English and German language skills are also expected.
