PhD Student - Clinic for gastroenterology, infectiology and rheumatology (f/m/d)
PHD STUDENT Clinic for gastroenterology, infectiology and rheumatology - CC13 Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin The central question of our project is whether microbiota-directed antibodies may drive antibody-mediated neuropsychiatric diseases. A bidirectional strategy using human samples and mouse models, i. e., analysis of pathological properties in the CNS by antibodies derived from lamina propria and of microbiota binding by pathogenic antibodies cloned from neurological patients, will be implemented to address the «gut-brain» molecular mimicry on the molecular level. Your area of responsibility: Your work includes, on the one hand, the immunological analysis of murine experimental colitis as well as patient samples, in particular intestinal biopsies from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis patients. The range of methods includes single cell and microbiome analysis of patients, the implementation of murine disease models including the collection of macroscopic and immunological data, flow cytometry (mass cytometry), histology and more. PhD students will profit from the structured education program Leibniz Graduate School on Chronic Inflammation (LeGCI) of the DRFZ/Charité, run jointly with the Faculty for Life Science of the Humboldt University and Leibniz Society. Your profile: Completed studies (diploma or master) in biology, biochemistry or a related course of study from an internationally recognized university Experience in sterile work with mammalian cells and in standard molecular biological and cell biological methods Willingness to work with laboratory animals (mouse) and patient samples (blood, intestine) Willingness to work flexible hours Knowledge of spoken and written English, basic knowledge of office and statistical software Initiative and enjoyment of teamwork, ability to think analytically and work independently would be desirable: knowledge of immunology, experience in flow cytometry and/or histology, experience in modern data analysis e. g., with R(-studio) REF. NO.: DM.223.23b START: 01.01.2024 LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 31.12.2027 WORKING TIME: 65 % PAY SCALE: 13 according to collective agreement TVöD VKA-K Employees are grouped into pay scales according to their qualifications and personal requirements. You can find our collective bargaining agreements (Tarifverträge) here: www.charite.de/en/careers/ For further information please contact Rainer Glauben via e-mail rainer.glauben@charite.de Please send all application documents (e.g. cover letter, curriculum vitae, diplomas, certificates etc.) by quoting the reference number to the following address: rainer.glauben@charite.de Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin THE CHARITÉ - UNIVERSITÄTSMEDIZIN BERLIN makes its human resources decisions based on suitability, competence and professional performance. At the same time, it strives to increase the percentage of women in management positions and takes this into consideration where candidates are equally qualified within the limits of what is legally possible. Applications from people with a migrant background are also explicitly welcome. Severely disabled applicants are given preferential consideration in the case of candidates with equal qualifications. An extended certificate of conduct must be submitted. Any travel expenses incurred cannot be reimbursed. Data protection notice: Charité points out that personal data is stored and processed as part of the application process in different areas of Charité (e. g. faculty, staff committee, human resources department).
