Scientific Environment: The I&E Department and the TIM Group
Founded in 2002, TUM School of Management is part of TUM, one of the leading technical universities in the world, and the #1 hotspot for technology entrepreneurship in Germany. With its strong research environment and close ties to industry, the school constantly scores well in rankings, currently listed as the strongest German business school for research, and #9 in Europe for M.Sc. programs on entrepreneurship. The Innova-tion & Entrepreneurship department is amongst the leading of its kind in Europe, with over 50 academics at post-doctoral and doctoral levels who regularly publish in premier outlets. The TIM Group within the I&E Department performs research, among other things, on patent management and licensing, standards value capture, technology acquisitions, digitalization, and open source software (topics, publications).
The position
The position is a 100% position at public sector pay scale (TV-L) level E 13. The position is research focused; teaching will usually be limited to two courses per year plus mentoring of student theses. We offer a dynamic and international work environment, with a research and travel budget available to best support your research. You will participate in teaching and supervising students, interact with and learn from the other team members, and receive close academic supervision from Prof. Henkel. You will participate in the doctoral program of the TUM School of Management. We offer you access to an international research network by presenting your research at leading international conferences and spending a research semester at top institutions abroad. We are committed to placing you on the international academic job market if academia is your goal. The topic of the dissertation is in the field of technology and innovation management and will be jointly determined. We are happy to discuss possible topics upon request or during an initial interview.
You should have an excellent academic record and a Master's degree in management, economics, information systems, or related fields (including industrial engineering, etc.), the willingness to familiarize yourself with methods of empirical or model-theoretical research, as well as motivation, commitment, and fun in research. Ambitions to pursue an academic career are welcome and will be supported through conference participation and research visits at leading international schools. Knowledge of German is not a requirement.
